Youth of the Year

The Youth of the Year program highlights young people ages 14-18 to showcase their talents and achievements, share their hopes and dreams, and work toward a bright and positive future. Candidates emerge through year-round recognition programs in their Clubs. These teens progress through state and regional events, culminating in a weeklong celebration in Washington, D.C., where one is named the National Youth of the Year – the highest honor bestowed upon a Club member. Youth of the Year candidates embody excellence in BGCA’s three priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Good character and Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles.

Meet Divine

Our 2025 Youth of the Year! Divine is 15 years old and attends Lynn Classical High School. She is a high honors student and on the varsity basketball team. As a native of Nigeria, the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn has played a big part of her acclimatation to America. She has been a member of the BGCL for the past 4 years and the club has been nothing, but amazing for her growth.

Throughout her time here, the club has provided her the opportunity to be a good role model and a peer mentor for the younger members of the club. She has made great connections and built long-lasting relationships that she will cherish forever. She is presently the Keystone President, leads the Lynn Lady Leaders as well as assists with Torch Club, Cooking Club, Dance Team, Cheerleading, and volunteers at My Brother’s Table. She has future plans of attending college and majoring in Psychology.

With this prestigious title as the Youth of the Year, she plans to confidently represent the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn. She will represent all members from Kindergarten to Seniors with the same level of enthusiasm. Additionally, she will continue to take action in the community and be the change that is needed for a promising future in the community.
